Garfield Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Hackensack Crash: Police

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hackensack on Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, police said.

The 74-year-old Garfield man was crossing Essex Street at Parkway when he was struck by a New York driver, 58, driving a Toyota Corolla around 7:35 p.m., Hackensack Police Chief Michael Antista said.

Officers quickly rendered aid and the victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Antista said. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating in the investigation.

No arrests were made and the crash remains under investigation.
